Ganja wines won the Grand Prix and three gold medals in the Chisinau competition
Wines produces at “Gəncə Şərab-2” in Azerbaijan were selected as the best product in the BlackSeaRegionWine&SpirtsContest2018International Tasting Competition was held in Moldova on February 21-22. This competition has been held for many years under the aegis of the International Union of Veterinary and Wine-Making Organizations (OIV), with the partnership of the Moldova National Unity (UOL).
This year, a record number of wine-450 samples have been presented in Chisinau. They were presented by 92 producers from 12 countries – Romania, Ukraine, Georgia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Canada. Out of the total number of samples, 133 were foreign products.
The Highest Grand Prix was won by Hillside Classico 1990 white dessert wine made from Rkasiteli and Ms. Sirura grape varieties at“Gəncə Şərab-2”.
Other wines from Ganja Wine-2 were also awarded gold medals of the competition: Hillside Reserve 2014 (grape sort – KaberneSovinyon), Hillside Saperavi 2015 (grape sort – Saperavi) and Hillside Cuvee 2016 (red wine made from mixing various wine materials).
P.S. “Gəncə Şərab-2”- is a flagship of Azerbaijani wine growing. The enterprise was founded in 1998 based on privatized Ganja wine factory-2. Since then, the wine plant has been completely rebuilt and equipped with the latest European-made equipment. Today, “Gəncə Şərab-2” is a grape processing, storage and aging workshop, wines, cognac and vodka stores, cognac spirits, Alfa, Luxury, Extraordinary Rectifier Alcohol Production. As it seems, in addition to natural wines, the plant, which is popular in Azerbaijan, produces a wide range of vodka and cognac products.
“Gəncə Şərab-2” has taken part in two events dedicated to wine and dark alcohol in Chisinau –“BlackSeaRegionWine&SpirtsContest2018”international tasting competition and “ExpovinMoldova 2018” exhibition. This is a single B2B format project that enables winemakers from many countries to demonstrate their potential and to confirm the quality of their products. Direct agreements and contracts are signed here, and wine makers can export their products on promising markets. Moldovan President Igor Dodo’s participation in the official opening ceremony further enhanced the influence of these two events.
BlackSeaRegionWine&SpirtsContest2018 tasting competition has serious rules. All wine samples are wrapped in a cover and these covers are removed after the commission is completed.
