The validity period of the customs duties for the import of poultry and domestic eggs has been extended
Considering numerous requests made by domestic manufacturers, the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ASK), appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan and other state authorities with the extension of the validity period of the Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No 367 of 23 September 2016. According to the decision No 367, customs duties on some goods imported to Azerbaijan for the purpose of improving entrepreneurship and business environment in the country, expanding the activity of local entrepreneurs and protecting local production have been increased.
In its appeal, the ASK noted that the production of chicken and food eggs increased considerably during the last two years, as domestic production improved due to the specific customs duties applicable to imported products. The extension of the validity period of the decision will give a further rise of domestic production to a more competitive level.
Taking into account the proposals of the ASK, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a Resolution No 500 dated November 17, 2017 on “Amendments to the Regulations on the Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Rates of Import Customs Duties and Rates of Export Customs Duties” approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, according to the Resolution No 476 of 7 November 2018, the validity period of the specific customs duties applicable to the import of a number of products, including poultry and domestic eggs, has been extended until December 15, 2019.
