In the context of expanding scope and geography of coronavirus (COVID-19) infection in the world, the Azerbaijani government is taking comprehensive and targeted measures to prevent spread of this pandemic in our country and protect the population, as well as minimize damage to the national economy, labor market and employment.

1 (one) billion manat was allocated by Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev dated March 19, 2020 to finance measures to reduce negative impact of sharp fluctuations in world energy and stock markets on macroeconomic stability, employment and business entities in the country. The Coronavirus Support Fund was established by the relevant decree.

It is planned to reduction of the impact of the pandemic on business environment, state support for businesses that are likely to suffer, social protection of employees, strengthening employment measures, etc. with the order.

It is obvious that our state, which pursues an active policy for sustainable development of national entrepreneurship, provides support to every entrepreneur in the current situation. In return, every employer must uphold principles of social solidarity and social responsibility, be sensitive to employment issues, especially in the current situation, and not allow neglect of workers’ rights, their dismissal and redundancy.

We would like to draw attention of employers to the fact that in addition to providing support to entrepreneurs to reduce negative impact of the pandemic on the business environment, serious measures will be taken in accordance with law on unjustified dismissals and redundancies.
