A Meeting Dedicated To The Development Of Poultry Farming Was Held In Azerbaijan

A video conference on the development of poultry farming in Azerbaijan was organized by the Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs Confederation.

The video conference was attended by ASK President Mammad Musayev, Azerbaijani Agriculture Minister Inam Karimov, chairman of the Azerbaijan Poultry Society Aydin Valiyev and heads of poultry companies.

Opening the event, M. Musayev said that 2021 is a year of great construction in Azerbaijan, and the private sector and entrepreneurs will take an active part in the activities carried out under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev on economic development. Our country has made great progress in food security and self-sufficiency through domestic production. One of the important links in the food chain is the supply of poultry and eggs.

Azerbaijan is fully self-sufficient in eggs, and 25% of poultry remains dependent on imports. “I think that there is a potential to meet domestic demand for poultry, and the Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs Confederation provides extensive support to businessmen in studying the Turkish experience in this area,” he said. Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov shared his views on improving the competitiveness of Azerbaijan’s poultry industry and the state’s regulatory mechanisms in this area. At the same time, the Minister said he would continue the dialogue with entrepreneurs for the development of the poultry industry in our country. The Chairman of the Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency Goshgar Tahmazli clarified some issues raised by entrepreneurs operating in this field. G. Tahmazli spoke about the work done to develop the country’s economy and support national entrepreneurs. The chairman of the agency informed the participants about the impact of retail sales of birds on the episodic situation in Azerbaijan, future measures on vaccination against weak pathogenic avian influenza, shortcomings in the management of poultry farms and said that the agency’s specialists will continue to provide professional support to entrepreneurs.

ASK Vice President Zakir Azimov noted that the production of poultry meat has decreased by 10,000 tons over the past two years, while imports from abroad have increased to 38,000 tons. At the same time, they discussed the situation with the rise in prices for soybean oil, the increase in the cost of production, competition with poultry products imported from Russia and Ukraine. As a result of the discussions, a working group chaired by ASK President Mammad Musayev was established and it was decided to submit a package of proposals to the government and relevant agencies within a week based on proposals collected from entrepreneurs.
