ASK discussed “Pandemic and post-pandemic international cooperation” with Perm at a virtual round table

Today, at the initiative of the Perm Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, a virtual round table on “COVID-19 and new forms of international cooperation and promotion of Perm products abroad in the post-pandemic period” was held. The virtual round table was attended by Mr. Oleg Zhdanov, President of the Perm Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ms. Yelena Mironova, Vice-President of the Chamber, Mr. Fuad Humbatov, Deputy Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs Confederation, Mr. Dmitry Vtyurin, Head of the Perm Export Support Center, Regional Representative for Asia (Beijing) of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation Mr. Pavel Kudryavtsev and others.

The event discussed the prospects for the development of business relations of the Russian Federation with other countries, including Azerbaijan, on the example of the Perm region during the coronavirus and post-pandemic.

At the beginning of the round table, President of the Perm Chamber of Commerce and Industry Oleg Zhdanov thanked Mammad Musayev, President of the Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs Confederation, for the successful organization of B2B meetings between Azerbaijan and Perm in Baku last year. Speaking at the event, the Deputy Secretary General of the ASK informed about the support mechanisms adopted in the country during the pandemic, both in the economic and social sectors, including the main promising areas for revitalization of the most affected economic sectors.

In addition, during the event, the leadership of the Perm Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced that the Chamber has included Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs Confederation in the the chamber’s next online B2B meetings agenda. Also, issues such as the organization of a business mission of Azerbaijani entrepreneurs to Perm in September this year, in partnership with the ASK, the Perm Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Russian Export Center (Российский Экспортный Центр) were discussed.

Answering the question of the correspondent of the influential Russian TV channel RBK («РБК») A.Maksimov about the current level of trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Russia and the export potential of the Perm region in our country, the ASK representative said that currently the trade turnover between the two countries is about $ 3.5 billion, the corresponding balance is largely in Russia’s favor. At the same time, due to the development and diversification of the economy based on oil and gas resources, the Perm region has a large amount of quality equipment, oil products, machinery and lubricants, oil and gas refining, oil production facilities and materials used in agriculture and construction. The equipment is available and they are both high quality and affordable. The export of these products to Azerbaijan or the organization of their production in Azerbaijan is attractive from a business point of view. In addition, Fuad Humbatov stressed the development of mutual business relations in the relevant field, taking into account the extensive business opportunities in tourism, construction, services, agriculture in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
