A seminar on “Sustainable Development Goals” was held in Guba
On July 13-14, 2018, the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organization of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the International Labor Organization organized a two-day seminar “The role of the private sector in ensuring decent work and inclusiveness for sustainable development” ” in Guba.
The representatives of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the International Labor Organization, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population, the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Economy, the State Employment Service, the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Statistical Committee, the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Baku State University, the State Agency for Vocational Education under the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ministry of Agriculture, the Institute of Economics of National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan Women Entrepreneurs Association, Azerbaijan Micro-finance Association and entrepreneurs attended the workshop.
At this event, a video demonstrating the goals of sustainable development was displayed. It was noted that every year about 40 million people in the world enter the labor market, creating new problems for the countries. Calculations show that by 2030 60% of the world’s population will live in urban areas. All these problems lead to the creation of jobs, providing people with decent work, eliminating informal employment and other important issues. The importance of close cooperation between the government and civil society was stressed with a view to achieving the goals of sustainable development.
