Azerbaijani entrepreneurs visit Switzerland
Swiss Ambassador to Azerbaijan Philip Shtalder has met with the President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of Azerbaijan (ASK) Mammad Musayev.
“The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Bern is actively working to expand trade relations between the two countries. With their support, Azerbaijani hazelnut producers visited Switzerland this year. We would like businessmen to visit Baku. In June of this year, a Swiss high-ranking delegation visited Azerbaijan and met with the Minister of Economy, Mr. Shahin Mustafayev. The 8th session of the Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Swiss Federal Council is expected to take place before or after the World Economic Forum in Switzerland in late January next year. The officials of the two countries, as well as the head of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs of the Swiss Confederation (SECO) are expected to attend this meeting and probably you will participate in this review,”the ambassador said.
Asked about the activities of the AEC, the ASK President said there was a great potential for expanding economic ties between the two countries.
“Surely, we will be present at the meeting in January next year with a delegation of Azerbaijani businessmen. As you know, under the leadership of our president in recent years fundamental economic reforms are carried out in the country and there are many excellent opportunities to invest in Azerbaijan. Swiss entrepreneurs can take advantage of this opportunity. Swiss products are especially popular because they have always been selected for their quality, milk products, chocolates, medicines. Swiss companies can come to Azerbaijan as well as to get access to a great market. This is not a single local market, but your companies can be exposed to the geographical location and logistics opportunities of Azerbaijan to export their products to Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and other countries,”M. Musayev said.
The Ambassador said that currently “Holcim”, “Novartis Pharma Services AG”, “Roche” and other Swiss companies are operating in Azerbaijan, hoping to increase the number of companies in the future because of strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.
