The International Labour Organization (İLO) founded in 1919 is the UN specialized agency which seeks the promotion of social justice and internationally recognized human and labour rights, and represents tripartite structure, which includes the representatives of government, employers and trade unions.
Azerbaijan Republic has been a member of this organization since May 19, 1992, has joined to its 57 Conventions on main human rights and ratified the principles and norms of these conventions.
The long-term and close cooperation of AEC with the International Labour Organization plays an important role in the successful implementation of those commitments. This cooperation lays the basis for joint implementation of different programmes and projects on decent work for everybody, labour standards compliance at workplaces as well as occupational health and safety, gender equality and prohibition of discrimination, capacity building of enterprises on productivity and competitiveness, legal business activity, moving from informal to formal economy, women entrepreneurship development, boosting youth employment, eliminating child labour, tempering HIV/AIDS socio-economic impacts at workplaces and other important issues.
Broad awareness-raising work for employers within ILO cooperation remains to be among AEC main activities. In this respect, employers are provided with trainings and workshops at the local and international levels as well as consulting services are created for them. Moreover, AEC staff and representatives of its branch offices possess a good opportunity to participate in the international training course to enrich their knowledge and skills.
