III Regional Forum on “The role of entrepreneurship in the development of regions” was held
On April 6, 2019, III Regional Forum on “The role of entrepreneurship in the development of regions” organized by the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the participation of a number of government agencies was held in the Heydar Aliyev Center of Aghstafa city. Heads of executive powers and their representatives, entrepreneurs, representatives of the Ministry of Taxes of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Customs Committee, Small and Medium Business Development Agency, Food Safety Agency, Dost Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population, State Advertising Agency and Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication of the Republic of Azerbaijan were attended at the forum.
The forum participants laid wreath at the bust of national leader Heydar Aliyev in Agstafa city.
The President of the Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs Confederation, Mammad Musayev, said that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev deep economic reforms are under way in Azerbaijan and the purpose of these reforms is to increase the social well-being of our citizens, the economic power of our country and to decrease oil dependence through the diversification of economy and increasing profits on the non-oil sector by raising competitive prices under the “Made in Azerbaijan” brand, it is also important to maintain both the domestic market and export to abroad.
For this purpose, one of the main goals of major reforms in tax, customs systems and other areas is to develop entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan. In recent years, we have been witnessing the establishment of an infrastructure that meets the modern requirements, creation of ventures based on the latest technologies and support of the entrepreneurship. Implementation of state programs on socio-economic development of the regions over the past decade is important in raising a new stage of development of regions in our country.
According to statistical data, 970,000 entrepreneurs are registered in Azerbaijan and half of them are actively operating. Only in 2018, 87,600 taxpayers were registered in Azerbaijan, 50.4% of them were entrepreneurship entities established in the regions. Of course, it is a pleasing occasion and I am convinced that the development of the regions and the growth of regional entrepreneurship will contribute to the overall progress of our country. Therefore, I think that the III Regional Forum in Agstafa will be fruitful and will open new opportunities in terms of to achieve the goals, issues that concern entrepreneurs and ways of their solution.
The head of executive power of Agstafa district Maharram Guliyev, deputy head of executive power of Tovuz region Niftali Gasimov made speeches. Then the forum continued its work on the panels. Information provided about recent changes made to the Tax Code, SME dostlari and SME houses, lending procedure for agricultural products and technology, presentation of ABAD products, presentation of the Green Corridor Project, public discussion of the State Food Safety Act, role of DOST Agency in regions, advertising requirements for advertising in the premises and “Azexport” and “Entreprise Azerbaijan” portals by the representatives of related bodies at the panel sessions.
The forum ended its work with a visit to several enterprises in Agstafa.
