ASK President Received The Ambassador Of Uzbekistan To Azerbaijan

Economic relations between the member countries of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States are developing. This year, a new phase of this cooperation began after the Turkic Council’s videoconference summit initiated by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States Ilham Aliyev.

The meeting between the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan Bahrom Ashrafkhanov and the President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mammad Musayev was also dedicated to the development of economic cooperation between our countries and discussions on priority areas.

Musayev welcomed the Ambassador, congratulated him on his new appointment and wished him success in his work. Noting his visits to Uzbekistan and the fruitfulness of business forums held there, the President of the Confederation stressed that Tashkent is very dear to him.

Ambassador B. Ashrafkhanov thanked the ASK President for the kind words and said that Musayev would be the guest of honor at the meeting of the CIS Chambers of Entrepreneurship to be held in Uzbekistan on September 4. “Entrepreneurs working in Uzbekistan and the organizations that represent them are very interested in cooperation with the confederation, and I am confident that this cooperation will be beneficial for both countries,” he said.

The ambassador said that Uzbek and Azerbaijani entrepreneurs could establish joint ventures in the textile, food and pharmaceutical industries in the Alat economic zone. He noted that a car plant is currently being built in Hajigabul with the participation of an Uzbek company and plans to produce cars there together with “General Motors”.

Stressing the great interest of Uzbekistan in hazelnut and pomegranate varieties grown in Azerbaijan, the Ambassador said he visited the regions in this regard. Ashrafkhanov also added that he wanted Baku to act as a center for transit cargo to Uzbekistan, adding that concrete work was being done.

Musayev briefed the ambassador on the areas of interest to him and on the associations represented on the ASK Board. Noting the great interest of Azerbaijani entrepreneurs in Uzbekistan, he stressed that the ASK will do its utmost to achieve the goals set for the expansion of economic cooperation between the two Turkic states. At the end of the meeting, it was decided to continue cooperation between the Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs Confederation and the Embassy to expand economic, humanitarian and cultural ties between the two countries.
