Azerbaijan-Japan Investment Forum Held

The Japan-Azerbaijan Investment Forum was held at the Baku Marriott Hotel Boulevard on October 4.

Speaking at the forum, the President of the Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs Confederation Mammad Musayev greeted the guests. He mentioned that the reconstruction works continues successfully in Karabakh under the leadership of the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, shortly after November 8 – Victory Day. Azerbaijan is rapidly implementing the Smart Village and Smart City projects, applying the world’s latest technological achievements in its liberated lands. In Karabakh and East Zangazur, construction work is carried out in accordance with modern urban planning standards creates great investment opportunities for economic recovery and revival.

Japanese investors were also informed about these opportunities at today’s event. It was noted that Japanese companies are active in the field of oil and gas industries in Azerbaijan, reconstruction and supply of communications, ecology, infrastructure, training of Azerbaijani specialists, etc. According to the results of 2020, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Japan is $ 200 million. It was noted at the event that the Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs Confederation makes extensive use of opportunities to establish relations with various international organizations and investors. TET International Development, founded by Japanese investors, is one of the active members of the Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs Confederation. Over the past two years, TET has invested more than $ 10 million in four tobacco processing plants in Zagatala, Oguz, Sheki and Tovuz.

Then Rahman Hajiyev, Chairman of the Board of the Karabakh Revival Foundation, Amada Shunichi, Head of the Economics Department of the Embassy of Japan in Azerbaijan, Natig Nasanov, First Chairman of the Board of KOBIA, Taro Sawada, CEO of TET International Development spoke at the forum. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation was signed between the Japanese company TET International Development and the Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs Confederation at the forum. The document envisages the development of joint projects, expansion of cooperation, identification of areas of joint activity, increasing trade turnover between Japan and Azerbaijan and attracting additional investment in various sectors of the Azerbaijani economy.

It should be noted that the first delegation of Japanese investors paid a business visit to our country in early September this year. The Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs Confederation got acquainted with the opportunities supporting them and supports the organization of meetings in the Sheki and Zagatala districts. As a result of the meetings, preliminary agreements were reached on the export of some non-oil products to Japan, as well as answers to questions related to areas of interest to visitors.
