Uzbek entrepreneurs were on a business trip to Azerbaijan
More than 20 Uzbek entrepreneurs, led by Mr. Farhodjon Toshpulatov, Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, were on a business trip to Azerbaijan. Meetings on the schedule of the three-day visit organized by the Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs Confederation. On June 20, Uzbek entrepreneurs received detailed information about industrial parks at the Economic Zones Development Agency and got acquainted with enterprises in the Sumgayit industrial park. On the same day, the delegation held a meeting at “Azersun Holding” and specific negotiations were held on areas of mutual interest.
At the meeting in KOBIA, the Uzbek side was interested in the experience of Azerbaijan in the development of small and medium businesses. On June 21, the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan business forum was held at the Hyatt Regency hotel. Ms. Jala Hajiyeva, the vice-president of the Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs Confederation, opened the forum, said that the economic cooperation between the two peoples who share the same root and the same culture has been increasing year by year “On June 20, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan H.E. Let me note that the volume of trade turnover between our countries has increased 6 times in the last 5 years. In 2021, it amounted to 112 million US dollars. Compared to 2020, trade turnover with the Republic of Uzbekistan increased by 35.98 percent in 2021, including import by 32.48 percent, and export by 44.95 percent. Mr. Farhodjon Toshpulatov, deputy chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, said that 234 companies with Azerbaijani capital were operating in Uzbekistan, and most of them work in the fields of tourism, agriculture and other services. “We believe that this forum will open new opportunities for economic cooperation between our countries,” Mr. Toshpulatov said.
