The 3rd meeting of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Business Council was held
On February 24, the third meeting of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Business Council was held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. The event organized by the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan was attended by officials from both countries and businessmen representing various sectors of the economy.
At the event, Tura Bobolov, the first deputy chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, Vugar Zeynalov, the vice-president of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Orkhan Mammadov, the chairman of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency, and Yusif Abdullayev, the acting executive director of the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, were present at the event, as well as representatives of other administrative and business circles participated.
Among them were representatives of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture of Uzbekistan, the Agency for Attracting Foreign Investments under the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade, and members of the Banks Association of Uzbekistan. Representatives of the Health and Thermal Tourism Development Support Public Union, Export and Investment Promotion Agency, as well as a representative of the International Bank of Azerbaijan participated in the event from the Azerbaijani side.
The main goal of the event was further development of investment and trade-economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, as well as strengthening of relations between the business circles of the two countries.
During his speech, Tura Bobolov noted that cooperation between the two countries has been actively developing in recent years, and the number of mutual trade and joint business projects is growing rapidly.
It should be noted that special attention is paid to the consistent expansion of economic partnership in the priority directions for Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, as well as to the intensification of mutual cooperation between the business circles of the two countries.
As of July 2022, 243 enterprises with the participation of Azerbaijani capital operate in Uzbekistan, of which 86 are joint ventures, and 157 have 100 percent foreign capital. Most of them work in engineering and metal processing, energy, light industry, food industry, jewelry production and repair, real estate, service, trade, finance and insurance.
At the end of the event, representatives of the Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan private sector expressed their desire to contribute to the further development of joint projects in the two countries.
