The head of the Azerbaijan Confederation of Entrepreneurs made a speech at TURKPA’s Baku event
The Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) held two conferences on “Heydar Aliyev and parliamentarism” and “TURKPA’s 15th anniversary: Past experience, today’s realities and future prospects”.
Parliament and embassy representatives of Turkish states, as well as other officials and members of the media participated in both conferences.
The Secretary General of TURKPA Mehmet Sureyya said that cooperation within the framework of TURKPA today covers the main areas of society. 4 permanent commissions operating in the fields of legal, economic, socio-cultural, humanitarian, educational, environmental and health protection contribute to the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation among member states in these fields.
The Secretary General said that as the Turkish cooperation has deepened over the past years, the activities of the organization have also expanded, and it has worked with great effort to fulfill the increased tasks assigned to it.
Speaking at the event, the president of the Azerbaijan Confederation of Entrepreneurs and the co-chairman of the Turkish Chamber of Commerce and Industry from Azerbaijan, Mammad Musayev, said that the brotherly countries have made a great progress in the development of economic cooperation, and the Union of Turkish Chambers of Commerce and Industry is successfully carrying out its mission in this field.
Under the leadership of Mr. Rifat Hısarcıklıoglu, the president of the Union of Turkish Chambers and Exchanges, as well as the Union of Turkic Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Chamber can be proud of its positive efforts in the growth of economic and commercial relations between our countries, for our businessmen to establish cooperation, and to go to third countries together.
On November 2, 2020, before the end of the 2nd Karabakh war, despite the pandemic conditions, the Union of Turkic Chambers of Commerce and Industry held a forum in Baku and brought together all member states for the revival of the historical Turkish lands of Karabakh, and a historic statement was made. In 2022, the Shusha Turkish Forum also brought great attention as the support of Turkish businessmen to the people of Azerbaijan. I deeply thank the presidents of our countries for creating these conditions.
As a member of the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry within the Organization of Turkic States, the Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan continues to contribute to the future development of the Chamber.
According to the latest statistics, the total territory of the members of the Organization of Turkic States is 4.8 million km2, and the population is more than 173.8 million people. According to the final results of 2022, the volume of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the member states is more than 1.5 billion dollars, and the trade turnover is 1.2 billion dollars. In general, 1% of the world’s territory and 2.4% of the trade turnover are covered by the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States.
First of all I should mention that the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry created conditions for entrepreneurs to network, to get to know each other better, to learn about the economy of our countries, its rules and peculiarities. During the past period, business forums were organized in each of the member states and the foundation of new economic cooperation was laid. Each meeting contributes to economic integration, and the great importance of these meetings should be specially noted.
We believe that this integration should be supported by legislative and institutional reforms, and the Turkic Parliamentary Assembly as a platform has great authority and leverage in solving these issues.
