President of the Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs Confederation has been elected a member of the ICCIA Executive Committee
The 32nd meeting of the Board of Directors of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ICCIA) was held in Makkah al-Mukarramah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on December 17-18. It should be noted that the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ASK) has been a member of this organization since 2015 and is represented in the Board of Directors. The meeting was attended by Fuad Humbatov, Deputy Secretary General of ASK.
Chairman of the Management Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan Orkhan Mammadov also attended the meeting and spoke about cooperation opportunities and support mechanisms for foreign investors.
Within the framework of the event, a number of projects being implemented in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, including the exhibition of the Masar project, an international seminar on halal food in the world, an exhibition of household and handicrafts, investment opportunities in Indonesia by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry was presented and B2B meetings were held.
In addition, a vote was held during the meeting to elect members to the ICCIA Executive Committee. As a result of the voting, President of the Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs Confederation Mammad Musayev, one of the active members of the Islamic Chamber, was elected a member of the Executive Committee.
At the same time, the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu were elected vice-presidents of the Islamic Chamber.
During the visit, Fuad Humbatov met with ICCIA President Sheikh Abdullah Saleh Kamel, Secretary General Sheikh Yousef Hasan Khalawi, President of the Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Kaaki, Presidents of the Oman, Djibouti, Kenya Chambers of Commerce and Industry and issues of organizing business trips were discussed. During the meeting with management of the Islamic Chamber consultations were held on the “Sustainable Agriculture Forum” to be held in Azerbaijan in May, 2022. It was noted that the Forum could make an important contribution to expanding opportunities for cooperation between the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in the field of agriculture, as well as increasing the export potential of halal products.
In addition, on December 18, during B2B meetings held at the Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry a favorable business environment in Azerbaijan, investment opportunities, construction work in the East Zangazur and Karabakh economic regions was presented and answered questions from entrepreneurs.
