On July 17-18, events are held within the framework of the 35th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Baku.
About 100 delegations from 20 member states of the Chamber are represented at the events jointly organized by the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture.
Members of the Chamber and entrepreneurs from Islamic countries, who visited our country in a large number, including countries such as Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, and Egypt, will participate in panels covering various topics, presentations of countries’ economic potentials, B2B meetings, visit several large agricultural enterprises, and sign several documents on cooperation.
The representatives of Azerbaijan’s governmental agencies spoke at the opening ceremony of the 35th meeting of the Board of Directors on July 17. Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Sarvan Jafarov, Chairman of Food Safety Agency Mr. Goshgar Tahmazli, Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Sahib Mammadov, Chairman of Small and Medium Business Development Agency Mr. Orkhan Mammadov and other officials took part in the event.
Mammad Musayev, president of the Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs Confederation, welcomed the guests and participants of the event and expressed his gratitude to the Board of Directors, led by Mr. Abdullah Saleh Kamel and Mr. Rifat Hisarchiklioglu, for choosing our country to host the 35th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture.
Noting that the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture is the organizer of several large international forums, the head of the Confederation emphasized that the decision to hold the “Sustainable Agriculture Forum” in Azerbaijan on an annual basis will greatly contribute to the development of the agricultural sector in our country.
It should be noted that the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture is currently represented by 57 member countries. The territory of the member countries is more than 31.8 million square kilometers. These countries account for 6.2% of the world’s land area.
The population of the member countries is more than 1 billion 900 million people, which mean 23.8% of the world population.
The gross domestic product of the member countries of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture exceeds 9 trillion US dollars. This is 9% of the global gross domestic product.
18% of Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover or 9.3 billion US dollars belongs to the member countries of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture.
