A Meeting With The ASK Managment Was Held At The World Bank Office In Azerbaijan

At the initiative of the Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs Confederation, Mr. Naveed Hassan Naqvi, Country Manager for the World Bank in Azerbaijan, received a delegation led by Mr. Mammad Musayev, President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Prior to the meeting, Navid Hasan Naqvi said he is the representative of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and at the same time acts as the World Bank Country Manager in Azerbaijan. Later on, ASK President Mammad Musayev gave broad information about the Confederation and said that as a result of successful reforms in the country, the number of entrepreneurial army increased to one million. M. Musayev noted that financial support was provided to entrepreneurs in Salyan, Nakhchivan and other regions within the World Bank-funded six pilot projects in the previous years, and noted that it would be useful to continue this positive experience in other areas as well.

In his turn, N.H. Naqvi said that the World Bank has been closely supporting the government projects on increasing new jobs in the country and, in general, the private sector, along with the government, has a significant role in creating new jobs.

N.H. Naqvi said that the World Bank is actively supporting the repetition of the self-employment program currently being implemented by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, and may need assistance from employers’ organizations in this regard. He also said that at the end of February of this year, he appreciated the active participation of the ASK in the discussion of the prospects of public-private partnership at the Forum on the development of the private sector organized by the World Bank.

Mr Naqvi said there was real potential for cooperation between the World Bank and the ASK and it was decided to exchange information.

He also proposed to hold a recurrent meeting with ASK managment to discuss concrete projects within the visit of a number of World Bank experts to Baku in September of the current year.
