A Meeting On “Customs And Entrepreneurship” Was Held

A meeting on “Customs and entrepreneurship” was held in Baku on June 21 with businessmen.

The event was organized by the State Customs Committee and the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mammad Musayev said that progressive reforms are being carried out by President Ilham Aliyev in all spheres and the purpose of these reforms is to improve entrepreneurship and create favorable conditions for businessmen. Mammad Musayev noted that these reforms have been successfully implemented and concrete results have been achieved, adding that entrepreneurs will also contribute to the improvement of the effectiveness of these reforms.

Chairman of the State Customs Committee, customs service general-lieutenant Safar Mehdiyev said that today far-sighted policy of national leader Heydar Aliyev is successfully being continued by President Ilham Aliyev. Favorable conditions for entrepreneurship development, strategic road maps, and measures to increase domestic production are the result of care and attention to the private sector in Azerbaijan.

Safar Mehdiyev informed that certain work has been done on the instructions of the Head of State since the year 2016 to carry out reforms in the customs bodies. At present, efforts are underway to simplify import-export operations and customs procedures. Speaking about the role of customs in the development of entrepreneurship, the Chairman of the Committee said that regular meetings between businessmen and customs officers were held and entrepreneurs’ opinions and suggestions were taken into consideration.

It was noted that all proposals related to transparent construction of customs and business relations, protection of entrepreneurs’ rights, improvement of legislative base, customs tariffs and other issues are considered.

The head of the State Customs Committee underlined that the most important task set by the President of Azerbaijan for the Customs Service is to be with entrepreneurs – to ensure full transparency and to strengthen the fight against corruption. “I ask entrepreneurs to express their concerns in an official and informal way,” said the Chairman of the Committee, expressing that afterwards confident business cooperation between entrepreneurs and customs services will continue.

Noting that the customs authorities are always with entrepreneurs, the Chairman of the Committee said that reforms will be speeded up and that all customs issues will be resolved in a short time.

Ziyad Samadzade, chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship, spoke about the essence of the reforms in the country and emphasized the importance of the steps taken in the customs system to increase transparency, both politically and economically, as well as a significant increase in customs revenues in recent months. the successful outcome of the purposeful work done in the framework.

Niyazi Safarov, Deputy Minister of Economy, said that the customs authorities play an important role in ensuring the sustainability of the economic system set by national leader Heydar Aliyev. It was noted that the reforms carried out in the customs bodies in recent years, not only ensured economic security of the country, but also played an important role in improving the business environment and developing the business environment. Stressing the formation of a new philosophy of customs bodies, Deputy Minister noted that effective dialogue with entrepreneurship entities, transparency, simplification of customs procedures, reduction of duties and consistent improvement of legislation are important factors affecting the development of entrepreneurship.

Later, the opinions and suggestions of the entrepreneurs speaking at the event were heard and the questions were answered.

At the end of the meeting, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the State Customs Committee and the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers’) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The document was signed by Chairman of the State Customs Committee Safar Mehdiyev and President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations Mammad Musayev.
