A Forum Was Held On The Reintegration Of Territories Liberated From Occupation Into The Country’s Economy

The international scientific conference on “Reintegration of territories liberated from occupation into the country’s economy: goals and directions” has started its work within the framework of the event held on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the great leader Heydar Aliyev at the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction (AzMIU).

Officials of Azerbaijan’s prestigious state institutions, as well as representatives from private institutions, higher education institutions, and scientists from leading universities of Türkiye, Russia, Ukraine, and Macedonia participated in the conference organized by the Department of Business Economics and Management of AzMIU.

The rector of AzMIU, Professor Gulchohra Mammadova, who delivered the opening speech, emphasized that the international conference will contribute to research on the economy of the territories liberated from occupation. She said that the conference is aimed at the economic development of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur, the assessment of its economic potential, and its integration into the political, economic, social, and cultural life of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In this regard, she emphasized the importance of the conference and said that it will form a source for future goals and directions.

Professor Elshan Hajizadeh, head of the Department of Industry and Energy Affairs of the Cabinet of Ministers, Professor Mammad Musayev, President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, spoke and noted that the conference will play an important role in the economy of the territories freed from occupation.

Mammad Musayev said in his speech that the great leader’s initiative and persistent activity made Azerbaijan one of the developing countries. The large-scale reforms carried out in our country under his leadership were aimed at the formation of economic potential, the revitalization of social and cultural life and the revival of national and moral values, and in fact laid the foundation for the future.

According to him, during the past 3 years, the amount of funds spent on reviving our lands freed from occupation was close to 7 billion US dollars. As a result of the implemented measures, the “Great Return” program was launched, where internally displaced persons and refugees will return to their homes, villages, towns, and cities.

In Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur economic regions, a strong infrastructure has already been established by applying the latest technologies in accordance with the requirements of the modern era. At the same time, a strong economic stimulus was created in order to accelerate economic revival, increase investment attractiveness, create modern and efficient production, trade and service infrastructure, apply innovative technologies, realize industrial potential and create favorable conditions for entrepreneurial activity in the liberated territories.

After the speeches, the reports of the plenary session were heard.

Member of the Milli Majlis, academician Ziyad Samadzade  delivered a report on “Economic and social development of East-Zangezur and Karabakh economic regions: yesterday, today and prospects”, professor Imran Akbarov, rector of the Southern University of the Russian Federation, delivered a report on “Digital awareness – human capital factor in the reintegration of the territory”, executive director of the Center for Analysis and Communication of Economic Reforms, professor Vusal Gasimli, delivered a report on “The Great Return: Strategy and Implementation”, director general of the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, professor Nazim Muzaffarli delivered a report on “Comparative economic advantages of Karabakh”.

It should be noted that the international conference will last 2 days in 5 divisions.
