Secretary-General of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture Youssef Hassan Khalawi visited to Azerbaijan. On September 7, a meeting with the Secretary-General of the Chamber was held at the Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs Confederation (ASK)

Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs Confederation (ASK) president Mammad Musayev thanked the Secretary-General for his election to the Board of Directors of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture and the Board of Trustees of the Arbitration Center. Detailed information was provided on Azerbaijan’s fertile investment opportunities, business conditions, work done to achieve sustainable economic development, logistics infrastructure, as well as the liberation of Karabakh and the ongoing reconstruction work under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. The facts of insulting our cultural and religious heritage committed by Armenians in the historical homeland of Azerbaijanis were noted.

Then, the issues related to Azerbaijan’s export potential, especially the popularity of organic fruit varieties in the world market, the interest of Islamic countries in our country were brought to attention.

Y.H.Khalawi informed about the results of the Chamber’s research on the economic potential of Islamic countries. According to him, Azerbaijan is among the top 10 Islamic countries, in particular, its agricultural and tourism potential is highly valued here. “We propose to turn Azerbaijan into an agricultural business center in the Islamic world. Being long-term, we would like to hold an International Agricultural Forum in Azerbaijan every year. This will contribute to the diversification of the economic development of your country. These forums, which will be held with the participation of the ministers of Islamic countries, have great advantages in terms of tourism, which will lay the foundation for future projects on the tourism component,” Mr. Khalawi said.

Other proposals of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting. Within the framework of the visit, the guest will have a meeting with a number of public and private sector representatives.
